Embodied Forms
Concept
In my ceramic artwork, I explore the intricate relationship between human ontology and the expressive potential of clay as a medium. Drawing inspiration from ancient traditions and contemporary perspectives, my pieces delve into themes of embodiment, perception, and emotion.
Through the tactile process of hand-building techniques such as slab, pinch, and coil construction, I mold the clay into forms that echo the contours and gestures of the human body. Each curve and indentation speaks to the physicality of existence, capturing the essence of our shared human experience.
I draw upon personal narratives and introspective reflections to infuse my artwork with a sense of emotional resonance. Each work becomes a vessel for introspection, inviting viewers to contemplate their own relationships with embodiment and identity.
The final iterations of my ceramic projects are not just objects to be admired but reflections of the complex interplay between materiality and humanity. In Embodied Forms, I invite viewers to engage with the tactile, sensory experience of ceramics, encouraging them to reflect on the profound connections with our physical bodies.
