Swimming with Bricks
Concept
This sculpture offers a nuanced and playful exploration of the pressures and tensions inherent in the human experience when burdened with heavy loads, such as bricks. Swimming with Bricks thoughtfully examines the burdens we carry, both literal and metaphorical, and the paradox of containment versus release. It explores the notion that sometimes we believe holding on, rather than allowing ourselves to rupture, is a better way to contain it all. The precarious balance of the bricks and the palpable tension in the balloons evoke a sense of impending rupture, inviting viewers to reflect on the delicate equilibrium between resilience and vulnerability. The artwork embodies a palpable tension, as if waiting for the balloons to burst, reflecting the delicate balance between holding on and letting go.
